You've been handed a health plan by your health care practitioner...

Now what?

It's ok.

The "what" and the "why" can seem overwhelming.

This is where a health coach helps you break that all down into bite size chunks so  you don't lose time feeling overwhelmed and unsure where to start and can get on with your journey of health and happiness.

Functional Medicine Certified Health Coaches help their clients to identify their optimal vision of health, clarify the reasons this vision is important and support patients/clients in making wellness related decisions and implementing sustainable lifestyle change into daily routines.

The techniques employed by health coaches empower patients/clients to be engaged in the trajectory of their health journey as active participants.

What does a functional medicine health coach NOT do?

Health coaches do not replace your doctor or therapist.  We do not diagnose, treat or prescribe for medical conditions.

FMCHCs are the only health coaches trained in collaboration with the Institute for Functional Medicine (IFM) through a

curriculum fully approved by the National Board of Health & Wellness Coaching (NBHWC).

FMCHCs can pair with most health care providers that are encouraging patients to make lifestyle changes to improve health outcomes.

FMCHCs are trained in a functional medicine curriculum, using tools from the Institute for Functional Medicine toolkit.

Adaptogenesis 1:1 functional medicine health coaching is available in tandem with Adaptogenesis Functional Nutrition consulting, independent of these programs and for clients who are the patients of other providers*.

The role of a functional medicine health coach:

  • Create a client centered environment where you progress at a pace right for you.

  • Educate clients and help them understand their doctor’s plan of care

  • Offer tools and accountability when clients implement new lifestyle changes

  • Motivate clients using positive psychology techniques

  • Guide clients through dietary changes, food plans, and physical activity protocols

  • Lead clients through group coaching sessions on specific topics

  • Work directly with the client’s practitioner when appropriate

  • Celebrate successes and encourage progress

*Please note that if we are working together in tandem with your licensed health care provider, Adaptogenesis maintains a policy of not offering lab ordering or supplement purchases through my Fullscript account in order to stay on track with your licensed health care provider's health plan for you.
